GO
Connection Receives Kauffman Foundation Grant
Growth Opportunity
(GO) Connection has received a new grant from the Ewing
Marion Kauffman Foundation in support of its Microlending
Program. This support will permit additional loans from
the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), available
to aspiring entrepreneurs and existing business in the Kansas
City and Topeka areas.
According to
GO Connection Board Chair Tom Brown, “The investment
from the Kauffman Foundation provides the base for GO Connection
to build on its mission of assisting entrepreneurs in building
financially sound businesses. Our Board is extremely pleased
that community support of our efforts remains strong as
demonstrated by the Kauffman Foundation grant.”
GO Connection
Executive Director Alan Corbet echoed Brown’s statement.
“This commitment from the Kauffman Foundation will
enable additional financial support to small business owners
as they pursue access to capital. At a time when funding
for the Microloan Program is in jeopardy due to federal
budget cuts, financial support from the community is especially
important. We are pleased that an organization like the
Kauffman Foundation recognizes our work in the business
community.”
GO Connection
provides financial training, mentoring and access to capital
for aspiring entrepreneurs and existing business owners.
Over 85% of GO Connection clients received training and
advice, contributing to the likelihood of their business
